Cozy Apartment Activities for a Cozy Holiday Season

The most wonderful time of the year is here, and it is time to gather and reflect on the past couple of years to appreciate what we have and what we can have in the future. While all of this communal reflecting is important, it's also time to kick back, relax, and really enjoy some time with our loved ones, and there are plenty of creative ways to do that this year.

We’ve all been to more than a few holiday gatherings where the mood seemed to drift away from holiday cheer so here are some ways to keep that joy going with the people you love from the comfort of your own apartment. A holiday classic for me is the Candy Cane Olympics, which I found through Britni Vigil’s wonderful blog. It’s not hard to see why this was a hit when the whole family can participate in every event from Candy Cane Golf and Relay Racing to a Candy Cane version of Shuffleboard. It's simply some good clean fun with a little pinch of competition to keep things interesting, and I highly recommend it to brighten up the season.

For those who want to celebrate but stay a little more laid-back, there are plenty of reliable and easy games to play that you don’t have to abandon your eggnog for. A couple of classics I’m partial to are charades, trivia competitions, and Pictionary, but any kind of bonding game like these becomes so much more fun with the mood and vibe of the holidays.

Of course, there’s always something for the chefs among you (since we obviously love food over here), and my personal favorite cooking-themed family activity is an off-air version of the Great British Baking Show. The most confident among the family foodies go head-to-head making their signature holiday-themed desserts and of course, there needs to be a fake Paul Hollywood appointed to judge these culinary battles. This ends up being a hilarious event for the whole family, and the best desserts come in the heat of battle, so there’s an incredible payoff.

If none of these really hit the spot for you, the most crucial and easy-to-pull-off holiday extravaganza is a giant tub of hot cocoa and a litany of Holiday favorite movies. Grab your favorite blankets and your favorite people and cozy up to a warm night of cinematic cheer.

Whatever you choose to do this season, make sure to keep the holiday spirit going and appreciate the people you love. We all deserve a break to end the year off, and there’s no better way to unwind than cozy nights in a cozy apartment with your loved ones. Take my advice and enjoy the season. You’ve earned it!
